In 2022, Yannick Brookes began serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BSquare Advisors, LLC, where he leads the development of the organization's long- and short-term strategies and develops and upholds the company's culture, mission, and vision.

As the CEO, Yannick is the head of the organization and the official spokesperson for the company when communicating with stockholders, government entities, and the general public.  He is the designated signatory for all company contracts. He is supported by the Administrative Manager.

Prior to joining BSquare Advisors, Yannick served as the Executive Director of Student Services, Community Engagement, and Equity at Columbia University Law School, where he recommended policy enhancements that remove barriers to staff and student success for historically marginalized and underserved populations at the school. Also, he developed and executed pieces of training, workshops, and professional development opportunities for administration on social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion topics. His tenure at Columbia University in the City of New York began as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Affairs at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Under Brookes's leadership, the Office of Graduate Student Affairs created the Diversity and Community Engagement division within the Office. He worked with the Executive Director of Graduate Admissions to identify and award GEM Scholars whose mission of The National GEM Consortium is to enhance the value of the nation’s human capital by increasing the participation of underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science. Additionally, Yannick partnered with the University’s Provost Office to award numerous Diversity Fellowship recipients each year to engineering graduate students pursuing a doctorate degree.

While Yannick served as the Campus Associate Dean of Student Development at Connecticut State Community College (CT State), he served as the Acting Project Lead for the Center for Equity and Social Justice (CESJ) until the campus could recruit and fill the permanent role.  CESJ, which was established in Fall 2023 under Yannick’s leadership, is a space dedicated to the exploration of inclusivity, equity, and social justice in all its forms. It serves as a hub for dialogue, education, and community building, providing resources and support for all students, faculty, and staff to engage with these crucial issues.

Today, as the leader of BSquare Advisors, Yannick researches, develops, recommends, empowers, and partners with businesses and organizations to execute strategies that foster and align with their diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. He has extensive experience working with senior executives to champion diversity and develop commitment and enthusiasm across all employee groups.

Yannick returned to the University of the District of Columbia where he is serving as the Associate Dean of Students at the David A. Clarke School of Law. He also sits on the Board of Directors for The Urban Leadership Education and Development Institute, Inc. ("ULEAD Institute"), which is located in Washington, DC.  He is a Life Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, a historically black fraternity founded on the principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. Frequently, he will volunteer his time with City Relief - New York, Salvation Army, or various Community Pantries/Kitchens. He loves his two dogs, Dash (French Bulldog) and Kenji (Shiba Inu).

Yannick is currently all but a dissertation in his Doctor of Education degree program at Northeastern University. From the University of South Florida, Brookes has completed a Mental Health and Wellness in the Workplace Certificate, an Inclusive and Ethical Leadership Certificate, and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Florida A&M University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and legal studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
